He has spent his entire adult life working in the addiction field, with his first professional job at age 20 being a recreational therapist in an acute care psychiatric hospital.

Jason has a great deal of compassion for those affected by addiction, and his passion for facilitating positive change is what led to the formation of Zelus Recovery. He is a valuable member of our addiction treatment staff.

Roberto Olvera, LCSW

Clinical Supervisor

Roberto Olvera is the Clinical Supervisor at Zelus Recovery. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has experience working with teens, adults, and young children. Roberto has extensive training working in the field of addictions, and has a thorough knowledge of the crossroads addictions have with trauma, depression, shame, and anger. Roberto has advanced and specialized training in addictions and trauma, and is certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Roberto graduated from the College of Idaho and completed his Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2008. He also received a certification from Columbia School of Social Work, Online Pedagogy in 2019 to improve the experiences that individuals have in an online experience. This has come particularly handy when navigating COVID-19 and ensuring that patients who are participating in therapy online receive the same standard and care as those who would participate face to face and in person. Roberto is an adjunct faculty member for Northwest Nazarene University, and teaches social work courses in their graduate program. He has done so since 2013.

If you are wondering what participants can expect in working with Roberto, participants can reasonably expect an honest, compassionate, and direct approach. Roberto’s style is organized, and practices in a way that is approachable, responsive and transparent so that the patient can at any time ask what the purpose of the intervention is.

“My goal for any patient who steps into my office is to provide an authentic experience that facilitates healing, growth, and improving all connections in their life.”

Cody Haas, MSN , APRN, PMHNP-BC

Medical Director

Cody Haas is our medical director at Zelus Recovery. He completed his graduate training at Vanderbilt University, rated the #2 PMHNP training program in the country by USA today; graduating magna cum laude. In addition to pharmacologic treatments, he is certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, one of the most research-supported interventions for PTSD. Although psychopharmacology is his specialty, Mr. Haas’s approach is to utilize integrative and functional interventions to treat his patients. This involves mindfulness techniques, genetic testing, and addressing nutritional and exercise deficiencies to help his patients reach their treatment goals. He tries to educate his patients about any holistic treatment options that can assist in their recovery.

Working in addictions psychiatry runs close to home for Mr. Haas, as his own family was affected by substance abuse. After working in emergency medicine, inpatient, residential and and outpatient psychiatry; he recognized his passion for working with addictions. With his expertise, we are able to provide our dual diagnosis program which improves patient outcomes by treating substance abuse as well as underlying mental health disorders that may be contributing to substance misuse. He is at the facility on Thursdays and on call to take care of any emergencies throughout the week.
